1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of Baozi — the iOS app, the web app at app.hsk.cards, the Telegram Mini App and the website hsk.cards (the “Service”). The Service is provided by Ivan Guliaev, an individual entrepreneur based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you accept these terms. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ for the iOS app, Apple’s agreement prevails.

If you use the Russian version of the Service (hskcards.ru, the Russian Telegram bot), the Russian public offer applies instead.

2. The Service

Baozi helps you learn Chinese characters and HSK vocabulary with flashcards, exercises and spaced repetition. You can use it without an account. Signing in lets you keep and sync your progress across devices. We keep improving the Service, so features may change, and some may be added, limited or removed.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping access to the email address or the Apple, Google or Telegram account you sign in with. Tell us at support@hsk.cards if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app’s settings or by writing to us.

4. Free and paid features

Part of the Service is free. Some features may require a paid subscription (“Pro”). Prices and what each plan includes are shown in the app before you buy.

• In the iOS app, subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple account. They renew automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. A free trial, if offered, turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Deleting your Baozi account does not cancel a store subscription.

5. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: do not try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to it, do not scrape or copy its content in bulk, do not resell access, and do not use it in a way that breaks the law. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

6. Content and licenses

The app, its design, texts, illustrations and the Bao mascot belong to us. You may use them only through the Service for your own learning. Some materials come from third parties under open licenses — pronunciation audio, stroke data and dictionary entries — and remain under those licenses; see Licenses.

7. No guarantee of results

We work hard to make the content accurate, but we provide the Service “as is” and cannot guarantee that it is free of errors or always available, or that you will pass any exam. The Service is a study aid, not an official HSK product; HSK is administered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country that cannot be waived.

9. Ending use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop providing the Service; in that case we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The new version is published on this page with its date; if a change is significant, we will tell you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws of your country. Questions: support@hsk.cards. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
