变得 and 变成: to become

To become some way: 变得 + adjective, usually with a degree word: 变得很冷, 变得越来越忙. To become someone or something: 变成 + noun: 变成好朋友. Don't mix them: not 变得朋友, not 变成冷.

Examples

• 天气变得很冷。 Tiānqì biàn de hěn lěng. The weather has turned very cold.
• 他变得越来越忙了。 Tā biàn de yuèláiyuè máng le. He's getting busier and busier.
• 他们变成了好朋友。 Tāmen biànchéng le hǎo péngyou. They became good friends.
