有 and 没有

有 means “to have” or “there is”. The negative is always 没有, never 不有.

Examples

• 我有哥哥。 Wǒ yǒu gēge. I have an older brother.
• 我没有姐姐。 Wǒ méiyǒu jiějie. I don't have an older sister.
• 你有朋友吗？ Nǐ yǒu péngyou ma? Do you have friends?
