在 + place + verb

Where something happens goes before the verb: 我在家吃饭, literally “I at home eat”. Never after the verb: not 我吃饭在家.

Examples

• 我在学校学习。 Wǒ zài xuéxiào xuéxí. I study at school.
• 我在家吃饭。 Wǒ zài jiā chīfàn. I eat at home.
• 他在学校上课。 Tā zài xuéxiào shàngkè. He has class at school.
