得: how it's done

verb + 得 + comment

To say HOW something is done, put 得 after the verb and then the comment: 说得很好. A noun goes before: 他汉语说得很流利, not 他说汉语得很流利. 得 only follows a verb.

Examples

  • 他汉语说得很流利。 Tā Hànyǔ shuō de hěn liúlì. He speaks Chinese very fluently.
  • 他跑得很快。 Tā pǎo de hěn kuài. He runs fast.
