A light syllable at the end
yǎnjing · tóufa · gèzi
In many words the last syllable is short and weak, with no tone of its own. Pinyin writes it without a mark: 眼睛 yǎnjing. 的, 了 and 吗 sound the same way. There is no tone to learn, only to listen to and copy.
