太…了: too much, so much

太 + adj. + 了

太…了 means “too…” (这个字太难了) or “so…!” (太好了!). The 了 at the end is part of it. For a plain “very”, use 很 or 非常.

Examples

  • 太好了! Tài hǎo le! Great!
  • 这个字太难了。 Zhège zì tài nán le. This character is too hard.
  • 我太高兴了! Wǒ tài gāoxìng le! I'm so happy!
