Verb + 完: finish doing

verb + 完 · 没 + verb + 完

完 after a verb is “finish doing”: 吃完 “finish eating”, 写完 “finish writing”. The negative is 没: 我还没看完 “haven't finished yet”. Don't mix it up with 好: 做好 is “make it ready”, 做完 is “get it done”.

Examples

  • 我吃完饭了。 Wǒ chīwán fàn le. I've finished eating.
  • 你写完作业了吗? Nǐ xiěwán zuòyè le ma? Have you finished the homework?
  • 我还没看完。 Wǒ hái méi kànwán. I haven't finished watching it yet.
