来 and 去 after a verb: toward you, away from you

verb + 来 / 去

来 is movement toward the speaker, 去 is away: 请进来 “come in (to me)”, 我们回去吧 “let's go back (there)”. Things work the same: 带来 “bring here”. The choice depends on where you stand.

Examples

  • 他带来了很多水果。 Tā dàilái le hěn duō shuǐguǒ. He brought a lot of fruit.
  • 我们回去吧。 Wǒmen huíqù ba. Let's go back.
  • 请进来。 Qǐng jìnlái. Please come in.
