越来越 and 越…越…: more and more

越来越 + adjective means “more and more”: 越来越冷, “colder and colder”. 越 A 越 B means “the more A, the more B”: 越想越害怕. No 很 before 越来越.

Examples

• 他越来越紧张。 Tā yuèláiyuè jǐnzhāng. He is getting more and more nervous.
• 我越来越喜欢这里。 Wǒ yuèláiyuè xǐhuan zhèlǐ. I like it here more and more.
• 他越想越害怕。 Tā yuè xiǎng yuè hàipà. The more he thinks, the more scared he gets.
