从来: never (with “not”)
从来不 + verb · 从来没 + verb + 过
从来 almost always comes with a negative. 从来不 is “never do” (a habit): 我从来不喝酒. 从来没…过 is “never have, not once” (experience): 我从来没去过中国.
Examples
- 我从来不喝酒。 Wǒ cónglái bù hē jiǔ. I never drink alcohol.
- 我从来没去过中国。 Wǒ cónglái méi qù guo Zhōngguó. I have never been to China.
- 她从来没生过病。 Tā cónglái méi shēng guo bìng. She has never been ill.
