有利于, 便于, 用于: the written 'for'

有利于 / 便于 / 用于 + thing · = 对 + thing + 有利

In written words 于 means 'for, to': 有利于健康 'good for your health', 便于记 'easy to remember', 用于买书 'goes on books'. Without 于 you say it with 对: 对健康有利. Don't mix them: 对健康有利于 is wrong.

Examples

  • 运动有利于健康。 Yùndòng yǒulìyú jiànkāng. Exercise is good for your health.
  • 这样便于记。 Zhèyàng biànyú jì. This way it's easier to remember.
  • 这些钱用于买书。 Zhèxiē qián yòngyú mǎi shū. This money is for buying books.
