被: something happened to it
B 被 A + verb + result
被 puts first the thing something was done to: 他打破了杯子 → 杯子被他打破了. As with 把, the verb needs a result after it: 破, 走, 开, 了. The doer follows 被, or can be left out: 杯子被打破了.
Examples
- 杯子被他打破了。 Bēizi bèi tā dǎpò le. The cup was broken by him.
- 我的书被朋友拿走了。 Wǒ de shū bèi péngyou ná zǒu le. My book was taken by a friend.
- 门被风吹开了。 Mén bèi fēng chuī kāi le. The door was blown open by the wind.
