股: shareholder, stake, stock

股东 = shareholder · 股份 = a stake · 股票 = stock

股 first counts a stream or burst: 一股力量, 一股香味. Finance borrowed the same character: 股东 = shareholder, 股份 = a stake, 股票 = stock. Keep the roles apart: a shareholder holds 股份, buys 股票, receives 红利.
