之前, 之后, 之间: before, after, between
event + 之前 / 之后 · A 和 B 之间
之前 and 之后 come after the event, like 以前 and 以后: 吃饭之前, “before eating”. English order misleads: 之前吃饭 means “eat beforehand”. 之间 is “between”: A 和 B 之间.
Examples
- 吃饭之前洗手。 Chī fàn zhīqián xǐ shǒu. Wash your hands before eating.
- 下课之后见。 Xiàkè zhīhòu jiàn. See you after class.
- 我家在学校和公园之间。 Wǒ jiā zài xuéxiào hé gōngyuán zhījiān. My home is between the school and the park.
