何必 and 何苦: why bother
何必 + verb · 何苦 + verb
何必 is the rhetorical 'why' for a needless action: 离这里很近,何必打车. 何苦 is 'why put yourself through it', for wasted effort: 身体不舒服就请假吧,何苦硬撑着上班? A verb comes right after each of them.
