以致 and 以至于: so much so that it went wrong

A 太 …,以致 B · 以至于 B

以致 links a cause to a bad result: 他沉迷游戏,以致考试不及格. 以至于 adds the degree, 'so much so that': 她太紧张,以至于忘了内容. What follows 以致 is almost always bad — for a good outcome there are other words. The mistake is confusing it with 以便: 以便 states a purpose ('so that'), not a consequence.
